Life on Earth

Earth is the only planet so far known with the suitable environment for sustaining life. Land, water, air, plants and animals are the major components of the global environment, population food and energy are the three fundamental problems facing mankind. Unemployment, inflation crowding, dwindling resources and population are all due to the factors like increasing population, high standard of living, deforestation etc.

Man has been tampering with the Eco-sphere a very long time and is forced to recognize that environmental resources are scarce. Environmental problems are really social problems. They begin with people as cause and end with people as victims. Unplanned use of resource has resulted in the depletion of fossils, fuels, population of air and water, deforestation which has resulted in ecological balance and draining heavy of national wealth through heavy expenditure on oil and power generation.

Sustainable development is a process of social and economic well being. But to meet this end, we should ensure that the demand on the environment does not exceed its carrying capacity for the present as well as future generation. To quote in other way, environmental conservation is the present major demand. We must always remenber that God has given us this beautiful earth. A famous leader said,"There is enough in his world for everybody's need but not for everybody's greed". Thus, it becomes the duty of each and every individual to respect environment and preserve it for the future generation without polluting it.

Brightest Full Moon of 2010

Today(30th January 2010) I saw a brightest and biggest full moon. Yes, today's full moon shown around 15 per cent bigger with compare normal days. And it was also 30 percentage brighter with compared to other full moons. Today 8 PM I saw the bigger moon forever. This is because moon’s orbit was elliptical with one side 50,000 km closer to Earth. So we saw the bigger and brighter moon forever. Today the moon's distance from earth is 3,56,630 km. But the normal days it was the 3,84,800 km from Earth.

Earthquake and Its Evil Effects

The earthquake is the greatest enemy of mankind. Its power is greater than anything produced by man. Today scientists are putting forth their efforts to find ways to product us from it. Soon it will be possible for them to discover some means to fight it. The damages caused by the earthquake are very great, Explosions are caused. Buildings collapse. Dams, bridges and Railways are wrecked heavily. Death toll is very great. Huge waves will sweep in the sea and avalanches come down swiftly when it strikes the mountain regions. According to scientists, there are three earthquake zones. Scientists can say where the earthquake may strike they can’t say when.

Earthquake

There is an enemy beneath our feet. He recognizes no national boundaries, no political parties. Everyone in the world is threatened by him. The enemy is the earth itself. The power of the earthquake is greater than anything man himself can produce. But today, scientists are directing more of their efforts into finding someway of combating earthquakes, and it is possible that at sometime in the near future, mankind will have discovered a means of protecting itself from them. An earthquake strikes without warning. When it does, its power is immense. If it strikes a modern city, the damage it causes is as greater than when it strikes a primitive village. Gas mains burst. Bridges fall. If the quake strikes the sea, huge tidal waves sweep inland. That is tsunami. If it strikes in mountain regions, avalanches and landslides roar down into the valleys.

There are there large regions in the world where earthquakes are most likely to happen. Scientists call them earthquake zones. The first runs along the East Cost of the Asian continent, up through Japan, across Alaska, then down the West Coast of North America, crossing Mexico and ending somewhere in the Caribbean Sea. The second runs down the West Coast of South America. The third runs across the south of Europe and North Africa, through Greece and Turkey, and into the Middle of Asia. If you take a map of the world and mark on it the locations of all the major earthquakes in history, you will see that they have occurred mostly somewhere in these zones. So it is possible to say where they think earthquakes will strike, but they cannot say exactly when.
