Special Paints

Heat resistant paints are those which can withstand very high temperature. These are silicone based paints containing metal powders like zink, aluminium and heat resistant pigments like titanium dioxide, chromium oxide, etc. These paints are used as a finish for furnaces, ovens, etc. These paints contain thermochrome, which decomposes and undergoes color changes at different temperature. Silver iodide, mercuric iodide, and etc. These are coated on the outer walls of the reactors and furnaces to indicate the temperature of the reaction, so that the reaction can be stopped or controlled at a particular stage the reaction can be stopped or controlled at a particular stage.

These paints contain chemicals such as chlorinated rubber, carbonate pinments. These gases act as a barrier between air and inflammable substrates of the paint and thus retards the rate of burning. Wherever timber work is intended to be fire resistant it may be coated with these paints. Silicone and silicone based paints are gererally used as water repellent paints. These are used in ships, boats and marine aquipments.
