Space Travel

Man is now able to travel far into space. The invention of rockets has made this possible. The space age began in 1957. In October that year, Russia sent the first man made satellite into space. After this, both the USA and Russia carried out a number of flights to the moon. In 1959 man first set foot on the moon. Two Americans landed there. They brought back to earth samples of lunar rock.

Special spacecraft are needed for such journeys. Millions of dollars are needed for building them. Special training is given to the astronauts before the journeys. They are to wear special spacesuits during their flights. The astronauts take with them dried food. Bathing or cleaning of teeth is no problem for them. There are arrangements for them in the spacecraft. Some spacecraft are sent to planets like Jupiter or Venus without men. They land there without difficulty and send photo graphs to the earth. Very soon man may be able to travel to any planet he likes.
