Most of Us Tend to Break Laws Laid Down by Our Own Society-2

Many of our laws are ill conceived, badly drafted basically defective and impracticable. Either the laws, at any rate some of them, are obsolete or too far ahead of the times. In order to ensure general acceptance and implementation, the laws and regulations should conform to our requirements and to the actual situation currently prevailing in the country. True, every law passed by our legislatures cannot fulfill, the people's wishes. For instance, hardly anyone would like the Government to impose taxes, but taxes have to be levied by law to enable the Government to obtain revenue to be able to incur the necessary expenditure on running the administration, financing educational, welfare and development projects. Tax evasion is a natural tendency among people in all countries. Various methods are adopted to evade or at any rate reduce the impact of taxes and other levies. This is particularly true of harsh tax laws and punitive measures prescribing heavy impositions.

There are millions of people who have become social and political rebels because of certain grievances, unsatisfied demands, general neglect by the Government, lack of development of their regions and discrimination on certain grounds. There are the militants and terrorists who defy all laws and kill people in a bid to promote their cause, right or wrong. They indulge in widespread lawlessness, anti-social acts, subversion, arson and looting. Tactful handling, persuasive methods and removal of the basic causes that create dissatisfaction are needed to ensure compliance with laws.
